I don't think we should ever underestimate how well young children memorize. Memorization was something that was the norm in schools for decades, if not, centuries, but it's dying, if not dead, in the public schools today. 

I always felt it was important for my children to memorize...especially scriptures. I think it sharpens the mind and brings many important lessons into their thoughts when they need it in this difficult world we live in.

This set is a great introduction to learning to memorize scripture (as all our children need to do for seminary anyway). Starting young is a good practice.
